Summer in Sandpoint is something else. The lake comes alive, the streets dry out, and the whole town shifts into a different gear. If you're here for it — whether you grew up on Lake Pend Oreille or you're making the drive up for the first time — here's how the 7B crew does summer.
The Lake
Lake Pend Oreille is the centerpiece and there's no getting around it. At over 40 miles long and 1,150 feet deep, it's one of the largest and deepest lakes in the country — and it's right in our backyard. The water is cold and clear, the views are ridiculous, and once you've spent a summer on it you'll understand why people don't leave.
City Beach is the go-to for a quick swim or a afternoon in the sun. Garfield Bay and Whiskey Rock are worth the drive if you want something quieter. If you've got access to a boat, the whole lake opens up — there are coves and inlets that most people never find.
Skating Sandpoint
The streets dry out and the skate spots come back to life. Sandpoint isn't a massive skate city but there are good spots if you know where to look — and the Sandpoint Skate Park is worth a session. Summer evenings at the park with the lake in the background is a hard thing to beat.
For shoes that hold up through a full summer of skating, we're riding Nike SB Dunk Low Pros, Vans Skate Curren Caples, and New Balance Numeric 306 Cup Foys right now. All three are in stock at 7B. Come in and try them on — fit matters more than anything with skate shoes.
Getting Out on the Water
Kayaking, paddleboarding, wakeboarding, fishing — the lake handles all of it. Schweitzer has lift-served mountain biking if you want to stay on the hill. The trails around Sandpoint are dialed for hiking and biking once the snow clears out.
Whatever you're doing outside, you need gear that can keep up. The 7B Service Hoodie is the go-to for cool mornings on the water, and the 7B Service Ranger Tee handles the warm afternoons. Both are built to last and available in the shop.
Eating & Hanging in Town
Downtown Sandpoint is walkable and worth exploring. Grab breakfast, hit the lake, skate the park in the evening. Summer weekends bring festivals, markets, and events that fill the streets. It's a small town that knows how to do summer right.
What to Pack
Sandpoint summer weather swings — mornings can be cold, afternoons get hot, and the lake always has a breeze. Layer up. A hoodie, a tee, a good pair of skate shoes, and sunscreen will cover most situations. Stop by 7B before you head out and we'll get you sorted.
